This SR078 TCS230 TCS3200 Detector Module Color Recognition Sensor uses TCS3200D, which is the upgraded version of TCS230D. TCS3200 is a static object color detection chip which can output different frequency based on different color sensed and then MCU can read the RGB color via frequency collection and conversion.
SR078 TCS230 TCS3200 Detector Module 8-pin SOIC surface mount package, on a single chip has 64 photodiodes. These diodes are divided into four types. Of which 16 photodiode with a red filter; 16 photodiode with a green filter; 16 photodiode with a blue filter; the remaining 16 without any filter, you can all the optical information through.
The SR078 TCS230 TCS3200 Detector Module provides all of the pins of the TCS3200 on convenient 0.1″ headers – ideal for use with pcbs, breadboard or stripboard.
Four white leds provide plenty of light for the color sensor and allow you to use the module in any ambient light. The module requires only a single supply voltage between 2.7v and 5.5v – making it compatible with nearly all common microcontrollers, including pics, avrs, arm, Arduino and more.
At the heart of the SR078 TCS230 TCS3200 Detector Module is an inexpensive RGB sensor chip from Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions – TCS230. The TCS230 Color Sensor is a complete color detector that can detect and measure an almost infinite range of visible colors.
The SR078 TCS230 TCS3200 Detector Module detects color with the help of an 8 x 8 array of photodiodes, of which sixteen photodiodes have red filters, 16 photodiodes have green filters, 16 photodiodes have blue filters, and remaining 16 photodiodes are clear with no filters.

Pin Description: –
Header one on the left side of the board:
S0: Output frequency scaling selection input (along with S1)
S1: Output frequency scaling selection input (along with S0)
OE: Output Enable – if held low, the output of the module is turned on
GND: Ground – connect to 0V
Header two on the right side of the board:
S3: Photodiode type (along with S2)
S2: Photodiode type (along with S3)
OUT: Output – A square wave appears here showing the intensity of the detected color
VCC: Power – connect to 2.7V-5.5V
The Photodiode type pins allow you to pick which color light you are currently detecting:
