MCP4725 Price in Pakistan: DAC Module Selection and Limits

MCP4725 I2C DAC Module in Pakistan

When comparing MCP4725 price in Pakistan, first confirm that the project needs a voltage-output DAC rather than an ADC or a power supply. The MCP4725 converts a digital code to a buffered analog voltage and can retain a startup setting in EEPROM. Its useful performance depends on supply quality, load and interface design.

Separate a DAC from an ADC

A DAC turns a number into an analog output. An ADC measures an input and returns a number. The MCP4725 cannot replace a measurement ADC simply because both products use I2C and advertise a bit count. Define the signal direction and required voltage range before choosing the module.

Understand twelve-bit resolution

The normal code range is 0–4095. The ideal output is VDD multiplied by code divided by 4096, so the largest code is ideally one step below VDD. A twelve-bit code does not guarantee twelve-bit absolute accuracy. Offset, gain error, supply uncertainty, noise and load effects all remain relevant.

Recognize that VDD is the reference

The MCP4725 uses its supply as the DAC reference. A changing or noisy supply can therefore change output even when the written code is unchanged. It does not include an independent precision reference that makes any USB supply accurate. Use suitable decoupling and a stable, documented supply for the intended application.

Check bus addressing and voltage

The IC supports a 2.7–5.5 V supply range, but the breakout’s pull-ups and host logic still need checking. Address options include factory-programmed bits and an external A0 selection; not every board can be set to every address. Confirm the actual variant and strap rather than assuming one universal library address.

Treat the output as a signal, not a power rail

The buffered analog output is not a motor driver, battery charger or general regulated supply. Choose an appropriate high-impedance load within the datasheet conditions, or design a separate suitable buffer. Do not use an absolute-maximum pin current as a continuous operating target. Capacitive loading and output settling also matter.

Plan EEPROM use and power-up behavior

Nonvolatile storage can restore a saved code at power-up, which is useful for a deliberate setpoint but can be undesirable for an actuator input. EEPROM writes have finite endurance and take time. Use ordinary DAC-register updates for changing waveforms and save nonvolatile values only when justified. Define a safe system startup state separately.

Check new-design suitability

The checked Microchip product page labels MCP4725 not recommended for new designs. That does not stop a documented learning exercise, but a new commercial design should evaluate supported alternatives, lifecycle and sourcing. Price alone is not a complete component-selection criterion.

Frequently asked questions

Can it power an LED strip directly?

No. It is a signal DAC, not a power-output driver.

Is 4095 exactly equal to the supply voltage?

The ideal transfer function gives 4095/4096 of VDD; real output also has device and load-related errors.
